Hello again!
I know I just posted, but that was for my introduction. In this post, I'd like to discuss my accomplishments for this week.
Unfortunately, I spent most of the week sick, yet for the entire week, I have had dinner cooked and ready at 6:30 PM every night (except last night - the chicken took longer than expected, so the babysitter fed them around 7 PM - more on that later), with bedtime around 8 or 9. Now I know for many of you more accomplished housewives, that may not seem like a big deal. You probably do that second-nature. For me, however, it's a big deal. I have been trying for months to get myself properly scheduled, but my time management skills are somewhat lacking (I'm late for everything, even if I'm only 2 minutes away!), so for me to have dinner done by 6:30 and everyone fed by 7:00 PM is huge. I'm very happy for this achievement, but it will require maintenance on my part (another weak point for me).
This is also why I started this blog. I am an introvert and am internally motivated to fulfill my vocation as wife and mother, which in turn inspires me to write about it and to share my experience with other mothers. If you are like me and are having trouble overcoming your weaknesses, let's help each other! If you are one of those go-to-it mothers who gets-so-much-done-in-a-day-it's-not-even-funny, then I'd love to learn from you!!!
So on top of getting dinner done and ready on time this week, my other goal was to get up earlier and makeup and dress up each day. Being sick, I didn't really do that every day, but on the days I did, I didn't get up as early as I wanted, or I did, but ended up watching I Love Lucy while sipping coffee. Why do I want to makeup and dress up everyday you ask? There are a couple of reasons: 1). I want to be dressed and ready for my day. Being a housewife is a full-time job in itself, and I want to dress for that job like a professional. I also find doing so motivates me to get more done in the day AND I'm happier. 2). I want my husband to come home to a happy wife who looks good. I like hearing how beautiful I am (what wife doesn't!) and he can't help smiling when I'm all dolled up. It's a win all around.
I have to say, I did get my hair pin-curled last night and I slept in those curls! I have been trying to motivate myself all week to get my hair done at night and I do like the result!
My goals for the weekend and this coming week: consistency and maintaining my schedule, maintaining and following my planner, sticking to my plans!
Here goes nothing!
